Biography
Dr. Thomas Funke is Co-Founder of Tomorrow University of Applied Sciences and Professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation. A passionate educator and changemaker, Thomas is dedicated to empowering learners to identify their purpose, build entrepreneurial mindsets, and drive meaningful impact. Through challenge-based learning and mission-driven education, he helps students develop the competencies needed to shape a more sustainable and equitable future. His work is rooted in fostering collaboration, creativity, and real-world problem solving across disciplines.

Research Profile
Thomas’s research explores entrepreneurship ecosystems, digital innovation, and the societal impact of emerging technologies. His dissertation, User–Manufacturer Wars, examined the tensions between user communities and technology producers in the context of rapid digital change. He is also the author of Abseits von Silicon Valley (Beyond Silicon Valley), an international comparison of entrepreneurial ecosystems across EMEA, Asia, and the Americas. His work contributes to the understanding of how local and global systems shape innovation, and how purpose-driven entrepreneurship can address complex societal challenges.
