Learner Stories: Anthony Obiri-Yeboah

Laurel Martello

The beginning

A true Global Citizen, Anthony was born in Ghana, grew up in Frankfurt, and later moved to Japan for 2 years. He’s based in Frankfurt but you will rarely find him in the same place as he changes his location to both work and study every several weeks.

His upbringing taught him how to face challenges fearlessly. He created opportunities for himself and later wanted to help others create opportunities for themselves. Anthony’s entrepreneurial journey started with a calling to serve and he hasn’t stopped.

“I knew how it is to have nothing, so I was never afraid of failure.”

Anthony is currently a full-time Change and Organizational Development Coach. In his spare time, you’ll find him participating in Innovation Challenges or contemplating the Universe.

As he’s constantly on the move there's never a shortage of ideas but he believes in focusing on 1 project at a time — the challenge is always how and when to say no.

Joining ToU

Anthony founded 3 successful startups — MyTask, Obiri, and AOY. While he joined ToU already having been a successful entrepreneur, he wanted to further his professional growth and build his network.

Anthony calls his coming to ToU a Time Skip moment — often seen in anime as an instance of fast-forwarding a substantial amount of time. He wanted to speed up his impact and made the decision to do it at ToU.

ToU has helped Anthony redefine his purpose through a network of like-minded people, more insights on how to build a sustainable business with regard to the environment along with hands-on and interactive learning experiences.

How it’s going

Anthony strongly believes in not focusing on the big picture, but every individual in the world focusing on the small part of it where they can make an impact and then filling it in together.

He’s always got a range of projects on his plate from selling NFTs to helping a startup build a good foundation in order to be able to grow from 15 to 50 employees. He also accompanied one of the "big 4" on their digital transformation journey as a Coach.

As long as Anthony feels he is fulfilling his purpose, he knows he's on the right path.

“I always thought that I just don't fit into today's education system, which hasn't changed for ages. But seeing that more and more people are talking about the problems in our current education system and some actually coming up with new approaches, I was very excited for the next generations, who will experience these new revolutions in our education system. On the other hand, I wished I would have the opportunity to experience 'tomorrow's education system,' as well. Therefore, besides being a student for life, for a very long time, I thought I would never go back to school until I found out about ToU and the opportunity to experience the education of tomorrow today! The PM in SET covers the 3 areas of knowledge I’m looking to improve.”
