I kicked off my online master's studies at Tomorrow University of Applied Sciences with a surprising twist. In the very first hour, something unexpected happened — I received money from the university. I harnessed the power of technology, collaboration, and networking to create a real impact in no time while fostering the entrepreneurial spirit required to drive positive change.

It wasn't just any money; it was seed money provided with a unique challenge. At Tomorrow University, we are encouraged to think differently, to be innovative, and to create real impact. This seed money challenge was the perfect embodiment of that philosophy. Filled with excitement, we embarked on our journey to multiply the value of this seed money in ways we never anticipated.

As learners of the master of science degree, we were given the freedom to determine what "value" meant to us. It wasn't limited to monetary gains; we were encouraged to explore a broader definition of value. By applying the principles of effectuation, we leveraged our resources to create a meaningful project.

In our team, consisting of two exceptional women at the forefront of the tech industry and myself, we harnessed the power of collaboration and celebrated our diverse backgrounds. This diversity of expertise and perspectives presented us with unique opportunities to make a profound impact. As we explored different strategies to maximize the value of the seed money, we quickly recognized our shared objective: creating something accessible to all, free, and capable of bringing joy to people's lives.

Harnessing technology to create impact

To provide a platform for like-minded individuals to celebrate positive advancements, innovative solutions, and inspiring stories within the realm of sustainability, we established a dedicated Slack channel. Through this channel, we carefully curated and shared impactful news and stories, using automated systems to identify and post the most captivating pieces daily. This platform empowered our members to remain informed and inspired throughout their journey, serving as a testament to our belief in the far-reaching value that extends beyond monetary measures.

Experiencing the entrepreneurial spirit: Nurturing change makers

This challenge gave me a taste of the real entrepreneurial spirit from day one. It challenged us to think and act outside the box, to collaborate effectively, and to find innovative solutions. The experience reminded me that entrepreneurship isn't just about profits; it's about making a positive difference in the world. Through this challenge, I felt empowered as a learner, knowing that my education at Tomorrow University goes beyond textbooks and lectures. It prepares us to become change makers, equipped with the mindset and skills to drive meaningful change in society.
